Our party and dinner are loads of fun, delicious, and free. We have lots of eggnog, a delicious Christmas dinner (Mary Clare used to write cookbooks, so she's a fantastic chef), and Santa Tom arrives bearing a sack full of Christmas gifts. Our party is so much fun, and we're considered so mainstream, that even our local Palm Springs magazine, Palm Springs Life recommended us as one of the top 10 places to watch the Super Bowl in the whole Palm Springs area last year. Everyone knows, Terra Cotta Inn is THE ONLY PLACE for nudist parties in Palm Springs. Other places may pretend they have fun parties, even going as far as saying they are just like Terra Cotta Inn's. 9) Stay at Terra Cotta Inn February 12 - 22nd for Palm Springs Modernism Week. South Beach, Florida has Art Deco buildings. Chicago has it's Magnificent Mile. San Francisco has their Painted Ladies. But, Palm Springs, California is famous for our mid-century modern architecture. And you get to stay at one of the most famous Mid-Century Modern designed hotels in the world, The Terra Cotta Inn. There were many modernist architects in the 1950's and 1960's, but one of the most famous is Albert Frey. He designed only a few hotels in the Palm Springs area. And his most famous is our resort. Albert Frey is considered the father of desert mid-century modernism.
The Terra Cotta Inn was originally called The Monkey Tree hotel. It was built for celebrities. That's why we have very large rooms (300-500 square ft.). We were built with very high walls to protect the privacy of the celebrities that stayed here. We have learned that people such as Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Desi & Lucy, Spencer Tracy, Katheryn Hepburn, President Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, and many others used to stay here. To this day, we still get some celebrities from time to time as we are the nicest nudist resort in Palm Springs.
